Tilt Train

Trains are awesome. It was my first time to take the Tilt Train up to Bundaberg, and I took the slower Sunlander back.

Well, sure it’s a much longer way to travel (4hr-7hr) but a joy as well.  Time to contemplate.  Reading a great book.  An ipod to entertain.  Scenery to ponder.  A notebook to sketch down ideas.  The cool novelty of a dining car and its junk food.  And the people watching of passengers and friendly staff.

In the dining car, I had a chat to a lovely old man.  He was 70 and with 4 mates had completed a “bucket list” road trip out west.

Agree that trains are awesome. I caught the Indian-Pacific from Perth to Adelaide last year, which is a fascinating (and long) journey.
