Jewellery Class 1

I’m taking an intro course to jewellery making.

I was not entirely sure what to expect, but excited about the possibilities and unique form ideas.  I mostly wanted to learn some skills and to walk away with a piece I can proudly wear at the end.  In the first class we learnt how to saw and drill metal (with brass), which I would never have guessed as such core skills.  It was quite cool to start to get the hang of it.

About the sawing, he had spoke about patience, slow movements, releasing pressure, knowing when to push or pull back etc.  I soon learnt that too much and the blade snaps.  As he was saying this I thought – ha, totally true to my life my day! I have to occasionally metaphorically snap a blade to realise what isn’t working, and not fretting when lots of blades will snap in learning process.
