Candy Chang is a public installation artist, designer, urban planner, and co-founder of Civic Center who likes to make cities more comfortable for people.
Her projects are really playful, interactive and thought provoking on lots of urban issues. I first came across her work a couple of years ago with CUP (Centre for Urban Pedagogy), and since known of her work through GOOD magazine and TED. She was also named a Fast Company Design Master in 2010. (yep, I’m pretty sure I want to be like her!)
A lot of her art work could be adapted as direct practical tools in community engagement processes, as well as powerful community-building and public space activation ideas. I can see her “I wish this was..” stickers being great in a community planning workshop.
