Architecture about streets not buildings

Day #2 urban design training

It could be controversial to say, since I know some architects, but I thought it interesting in today’s course it said

The purpose of architecture is the creation of streets

It implies it should not just be focused on the buildings.  That building form has a greater responsibility to the street and public spaces it creates.  Buildings are important edges and play a role to create the enclosure, experience and active edges of streets.  It is also why some buildings could be iconic, or good looking designs but not necessarily be good at contributing to urban design.
