On Memorial Day weekend, I rented out a bike and did the paths around the Manhattan waterfront (Riverside Park, down the west along Chelsea, to Battery Park, to the Seaport, to East River Park). It certainly is a fun and surprisingly faster way to see cities. I enjoyed the change in landscapes, discovering new parts and collected lots of ideas for public space design.
Underneath expressways was always a point of interest in Brisbane and Toronto – how might these ugly spaces be used? – and so I was especially impressed by how these interfaces were working under the expressways along Riverside Park, and near the Financial District.
