Gingerbread Urban Design

I made a replica of my parents house for Christmas.  My first gingerbread house from scratch.  It was design exercise in itself.  We used paper models for IwB exhibition and likewise I used that technique to model my house before baking.

It also required some help with Google Earth.  I’m had previous thoughts about how Google Earth revolutionizes urban planning – it allows non-planners to easily sense a city layout, zoom in and out and see what planners are trained to see – broader context.  From a practice point of view, we used it in Tract to help do site planning bases, and also quick ground truthing or checking of sites. That’s what I did with my parents house, just checked the built form and site layout.

Google….wow what did we do before it??
