I was pleasantly surprised to find urbanism at the Louisiana Modern Art Gallery.
NEW NORDIC – ARCHITECTURE & IDENTITY sets out to explore if certain specífic ‘Nordic’ features reflect in architecture and if so how these manifest. New Nordic is the story of how we currently build in the Nordic region and express and organise ourselves and our community.
NEW NORDIC takes on 3 themes:
-Reassessing the site-specific
-Reinterpreting community and
-Reclaiming public space
The second theme was a whole lot about public buildings (health, schools, libraries etc), and was pretty much the very exhibition I was wanted to do as part of my State Government work to celebrate, advocate and showcase design excellence in public/government buildings. Much of that was linked to policy work and despite some opinion, my research showed there are great case studies in QLD, it’s more Agencies don’t compile or perhaps don’t rate them in such a way.
