Yen Trinh is an urbanist and designer from Brisbane, Australia. She is passionate about urban spaces, community building and collaborative design. She has worked for design firms, non-profits and government, in Australia, Toronto and New York, and enjoys bringing creative strategies to impact cities and neighbourhoods. She is a graduate of the unique interdisciplinary studio Institute with Boundaries in Toronto, and was named the National Young Planner of the Year in 2008 by the Planning Institute of Australia for her public media initiatives. She is the 2011 QLD Premier’s Emerging Design Leader Award recipient.
She is interested in the creative discussion and rethinking of urban spaces, and does so through writing, exhibitions, public art, and organising community events like Brisbane PARK(ing) Day. Her design heroes include Jane Jacobs, IDEO, Jan Gehl, Friends of High Line, Andy Goldsworthy, Bruce Mau, GOOD, TED and Monocle magazine
